Travelling together

Make a small holiday journal with pictures and notes

A few selected observations create a more personal memory than a complete chronicle.

Illustrative subject photograph; not a particular accommodation offer.

A holiday journal need not become a daily writing assignment. One photograph, a few words and an unanswered question can be enough. During a Wandlitz stay, it offers a personal view of accommodation, paths and landscape without recording every hour.

Choose a small format

Keep only a few entries each day: a place, an observation and something that surprised you. This could be a change of light or an unexpectedly quiet pause. Not every entry needs a major event.

Decide whether paper or a locally stored file suits you. A small notebook works without batteries. A digital collection combines photographs and text more easily but needs a sensible backup arrangement.

Select meaningful pictures

One detail sometimes says more than a tenth similar panorama. Note why the image mattered. With nature subjects, an open question can be more interesting than an uncertain plant name.

Respect people and private property. Ask companions before publishing their pictures and avoid treating other guests as incidental subjects. A personal memory book is not automatically a public travel documentary.

Add a little in the evening

Five minutes can capture keywords while impressions remain fresh. Anyone reluctant to write could draw or dictate one sentence. Family members may remember the same day differently without needing a single agreed version.

After returning, select the most interesting entries. Remove unnecessary duplicate images after backing up, and preserve more than highlights. An ordinary breakfast note may later bring this particular holiday’s daily life back most clearly.

Common questions

Must every day be covered?

No. Gaps are fine. A small selection often says more than a complete chronology.

Can children participate?

Yes, when format and length remain optional. Drawings, single words and jointly composed sentences are enough.
